Pop-cul.jp happily announces to open up the 2 new experience programs!
1. Pottery workshop – Wheel throwing
2. Pottery workshop – Oribe painting
Pop-cul.jp welcome Nihon Togei Club to offer ‘Pottery Workshop’.
Who is Nihon Togei Club?
Nihon Togei Club began in 1967 on the grounds of Togo Shrine in Harajuku. This was before Harajuku and Takeshita-dori became famous as a place of culture and fashion trends as they are today.
At that time, there were almost no places in Tokyo where amateurs could experience pottery making without visiting pottery production areas or ceramic artists. It is an organization with a long history that was established to promote and popularize amateur ceramics at that time.
There is also a tea ceremony room in the building, which emphasizes the relationship between ceramics and the tea ceremony.
Doesn’t it look nice? In the middle of pop-culture famous Harajuku.
In spite of that, it’s spacious and traditional. With the situation, we can welcome participants with a wheelchair, but up to 3 wheelchairs at once.
Surprisingly, Nihon Togei Club is fully equipped with what is required to create pottery, even ‘kiln’. And it’s quite rare in the heart of Tokyo.
